Straight from the underground arises Diskarte Namin

kultural guerrillas using music as a weapon to reclaim Filipino pride, and to declare that even after 400 years of colonization – we are still here. San Francisco born but bred on resistance music from all over the world, Diskarte mixes rock guitar with latin and hip hop beats, reggae and funk basslines, folk and soul vocals, and indigenous influences from the Philippines. Since 2000, Diskarte Namin has rocked shows from the Bay to LA to Seattle to the mountains of the Northern Philippines, devoting most of their performances to community events, social justice fundraisers, and political rallies.

There are times When I am one with the field And there are times When the sun soothes my soul In the morning, dusty winds take my pain And in the evening, an old memory fades away Your empty promise to provide Food for my family and ways for us to survive So then I spread my wings and fly – From home VERSE II Now in the Darkness Neons flash, the music starts I dance to rhythms Of a thousand lonely hearts These men between my legs They thrust a million lies But these men between my legs They’re how my children survive But if you promise to provide Food for my family and ways for us to survive Well then I’ll spread my wings and fly – Back home

Am – Dm – E VERSE I 100 Years after cheating was signed in a treaty between liars and thieves We wonder what would our country be like if our people had really been free Would our lolos be lonely would our women be enslaved would we pay for the rice that we eat? Or would families be strong on some land of their own, would we grow all the food that we eat? C – G – E – Am – C – G E – F – G – F CHORUS No more of the silence No more will we hide from our past We will fight for a future Where we speak out our pride in our land And we act our pride in our land We’ll take back our land! VERSE II 100 Years after pipelines were built from America to overseas Now we’re 2 million strong in a land that is rich, with a few opportunities No more little brown brothers sisters no more of this bullshit about backwards friends Now we’re 2 million strong in American means that we all are our homeland’s revenge!

CHICO REDEMPTION (The Riversong) Music by DiskarteNamin 2002 VERSE-C – Em CHOURES- Am – G – F – G BRIDGE- Dm – Em - Am Do you know how freedom sounds? Said do you know how freedom sounds? It sounds like spirits in the native trees Sounds like thunder from the ground [CHORUS]: Did you know that freedom looks like a river flowing free and strong like how we found each other And yes together we will work, try hard to make life better the way that water carves through stone But we can't do this alone... Verse There's a struggle in these hills You can feel its power still The women take down private property In a peaceful act of the people's will Verse Can you see its boundless force? So strong it won't be moved from course It's the sweetest form of gravity The need for all things to be free [CHORUS x 2] [BRIDGE]: SO we will come together and we will build together and we will fight together to be free... to be free. [CHORUSx2]: [BRIDGE]: SO we will come together and we will build together cause we are strong together so we will fight together till we win this revolution till we win this revolution till we win this......REVOLUTION!
